Kindergarten Christmas Math-Addition Centers

Hello/Bonjour!

In this post I will be continuing my math center series by showing different ways I have set up Christmas themed addition centers. I have used the same items as in the last post to show how I create multiple centers using simple and inexpensive materials. I bought all of these items from the dollar store and will be able to use some of them again next year. I also included a free printable that can be used to add structure to the centers if needed. For younger students, simply exploring the materials may be enough.

I used the template with Christmas stickers to create a fun addition center with a fine motor element. Students love peeling and sticking stickers.

Pom poms are perfect to practice adding on a ten-frame. I have made these ten-frames with popsicle sticks from the dollar store. These are thinner sticks that are double the length of regular popsicle sticks. I have found the thinner sticks make dividing the frame into squares easier. After practicing with the pom poms, students can fill out the template with what they have learned.

I used these tiny bells in an open addition center, all you need to do is cut out and label pieces of paper with math symbols and numbers or let the students do their own. They can put their findings on the template or continue experimenting with the materials and making more addition sentences.

I love using these foam stickers as math manipulatives (with the backs on) before letting the students use them as stickers. Once I have used these bright and soft stickers in my math centers I put them in the art center to be used as the students wish. I usually re-buy these large bags of foam stickers as they are inexpensive and fun for the students to create with.
