Kindergarten Halloween Centers

Hello/Bonjour

I love the September to December period of school because of the fun activities and holidays that we get to enjoy. Halloween is always a great time because there are so many cute Halloween ideas and the kids love it! Today I will be showing you some centers and activities that I have used in Kindergarten for the weeks leading up to Halloween.

I love decorating for the holidays, I try to switch up the door every month or season- it takes some time to switch the door decor each time but I love the result! These were pre-cut shapes but usually I like to have a craft center where students can make their own name tag for the door.  It is a good way to promote name recognition as the students love to point out the names as they walk by.

I love these Halloween themed pieces for their versatility-they can be used for play, in sensory bins or they can be used as math manipulatives for counting, patterning etc. Here we did pattern creating. I found these at a craft store.

Students love to complete these French Halloween color by pattern pictures. They need to identify the pattern to find out what to colour. If it is too difficult for students I have gone through it as a class and wrote down the answers beside the colour. There are also two sets of recording sheets for the pattern around the room activity- completing the pattern (shown here) or identifying the pattern.  You can find the set here which includes the pattern around the room activity, colour by word pictures and pattern puzzles (available in French only at this time).

This is an easy craft that gets students to practice their cutting skills. They make the body by tracing their two hands and putting them together and then cutting out pieces to decorate their bat with. I put out pre-printed facial features to cut out just to make it easier for my Kinders. These would be cute to hang on the classroom door as name tags-just add a white sticker with their name on it.

What is more fun than a giant pile of Halloween stickers? Stickers can be fun and educational as they help improve fine motor skills and can encourage students to add writing or drawings to their masterpieces. I found these foam shape stickers at a dollar store.

For Halloween literacy fun the students love to search the room looking for Halloween words, there is the French version which you can check out here, or the English version here. The set is full of fun Halloween literacy activities like color by word and word puzzles.

Happy Halloween!
